One of the things I love about my son getting a bit older (5 next month!) is that he loves to do “projects” with me. This can be anything from building forts, to planting in the garden, to making art. Recently he decided he wanted his own art journal to paint in and do sketches. Of course, I am so proud! One of the first things we tried in his journal was crayon resist painting…basically drawing on a page with wax crayons, then painting over it with something water-based. We used plain old water colors. It was such a success that we have done several more over the last few days.
I was having so much fun that I decided to try a “greyscale” crayon resist background for my own journal.
Where the magic happened:

Awesome! I can’t wait to do stuff like this with my little guy. Right now his attention span is about 5 minutes!
Yeah, I remember those days. We are up to about 10 minutes now
Keep this one in mind. Its a good one and can be done quickly!
