This is a hollow-form ring that I made a few years ago and then promptly shoved in a drawer never (hardly ever) to be worn. But recently I started to see all these things on Pinterest with a similar shape and form. It seems like sharp, crisp (and sometimes pointy!) jewelery is in fashion…who knew? It seems to go hand in hand with the chevron craze of the past year.
Anyhoo, this piece was NOT in good shape, tarnished and scratched from bouncing around in a totally unsuitable environment. I combined baking soda and salt with warm water and soaked the ring in that solution in a metal bowl lined with aluminum foil (I found this natural tarnish remover recipe here.) Then, I gave it a whirl in the tumbler with some stainless steel shot to polish it up. It previously had a brush scratched finish, but I’m liking this shiny, polished finish a bit more. And despite some (le sigh) weight gain, this ring still fits nicely on my right hand, where I had always intended to wear it 🙂
