So, the cover of the art journal is a work in progress. Every day I add a layer or element. I have no idea when it will be done. Maybe it is done (but secretly, I don’t think so.) This was actually a whole lot of fun to make, both from an artistic perspective and a self discovery perspective. I felt a bit of that spark that I used to feel when I was creating things. That flow of pure energy (it is a little bit like a drug.) I hope this is the first step into a more creative life (and by the way, I’m not entirely sure what that looks like. I think I’ll know it when I arrive.)
I still have yet to start on my “Pay it Forward 2012” art project. I have 5 very different friends to make something handmade for…and they will do the same for 5 of their friends (hopefully!) Read about it here. I have a few ideas, so look for a post on that coming soon.
Hey, who says all the journaling has to happen on the inside? Here is the full cover text:
There are thousands of things to say and only one life. So why start? Why start something that you can never really finish? Is the journey really worth it in the long run? Or, is it the destination that actually compels us to do the things we do? Look inward and find doubt. Look outward and find questions you cannot ever answer. So in the midst of this push and pull we make art, dream art, and live our lives (the ultimate performance art) and carry on. It’s what HUMANS do. Pretty much all human endeavors are futile but we do them because something inside us tells us it’s better to do them than not to do them. It’s better to seek beauty than not, to love rather than not love. To fly. To soar, rather than stay on the ground. Even if all the beauty we find, we create, will some day be dust. This is my art.
