I have been collecting the fortunes out of fortune cookies for several years. I was never sure what I was going to do with them, but I had it in my mind that someday they would become some sort of art, perhaps somehow be incorporated into a piece of jewelry. I decided to devote a rather small sampling to this journal page entitled “FORTUNATE.” I picked them out of the bag at random, but decided to lay them out in a very orderly pattern. I can’t really explain the choices I made for this piece…why certain things are where they are. I just did whatever sprang to inspiration. I guess that’s the point, and it works for me. I also like the concept of being fortunate, laid over little pieces of paper that are supposed to tell your fortune, or predict your future. There is probably some deep meaning there, but I can’t quite form the words to express it. So for now, here are some photos of the page in question.
