Recycle! Turn a Paper Bag into a Necklace

A few days ago I posted about making paper beads. Well, I have been at it again…trying a different type of paper, and documenting a bit of the process for you. This is in no way an actual tutorial, but it should give you a rough idea of the process. As I mentioned in my earlier post I used this tutorial for my inspiration.  These beads were made from a bulk coffee bag (the kind you fill with beans at the grocery store.) I used this same type of bag for a mini-book a few weeks ago. As I have probably mentioned WAY too many times, I absolutely love taking something that would be thrown away or recycled and turning it into something cool, and in this case, wearable!

I hope you all have (or are having) a lovely weekend. Good weather expected here in Seattle so hoping to be outside a lot!

    1. Thank you so much! I really appreciate that you stopped by and commented 🙂

  2. Fantastic! Great recycling. Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Thanks Florence. You, too!

  3. o.k. this is very cool…you must be more patient than me, I tried this same method a ways back with fabric scraps wrapped around a straw (cause I figured I’d just leave the straw inside and cut it at the ends of the bead shape) but I never got past making 3 of em’ the glue was everywhere! did you have a drying rack set?!

    1. No drying rack…just stuck the toothpicks in some styrofoam to keep them upright. A few of them tried to stick to the toothpicks but I was able to free most of them either by twisting them or, in a few cases, running an exacto around the top and bottom. I love the idea of trying fabric…maybe that can be another craft day (an blog posts for both of us! 😉

  4. Hello, I love that you took something that would be rubbish and made something really beautiful from it. Great work!
    Big love
