I have no idea where this page came from…I got lost in it. I’m truly getting better at letting go. I did start out with a plan of sorts. But it got away from me in a good, messy, chaotic way. The process reminds me of a quote I just read from musician Matthew Ryan: “The more that I plan an album, the further it drifts from my control. My work is defiant that way.”
To make this I played with book pages, painters tape, modge podge, acrylics, spray inks, uniball pen, and metallic gelly roll pen.
The words on the page are from a book page I was working with. I cut out words and phrases, selected a few I liked, and then arranged them to form a poem of sorts. I was going to just glue them to the page, but decided to write them instead:
“We sat under the stars close
You put something in my hand
My skin prickled
the Belt of Orion
