A Message From Me To Me

Usually I’m eager to share, but this painting had me struggling a bit. Truth be told, I have super mixed emotions about it. In fact, that was sort of the point of the Lifebook exercise. Freely putting paint, ink etc. down on the paper and seeing what emotions emerged. I did the background rather easily, […]

Collage Craziness: Part 2

So you may recall from the last post that I was in a collage frenzy. I felt so inspired by my renewed love of collage that I started working on what I hoped would become the cover of my latest journal. In the end I decided not to use it as the cover, but there […]

Collage Craziness: Part 1

Two weeks ago I  was in a collage frenzy. If you have been with me for awhile you know that I dig collage…almost everything I do has at least some collage component. For some reason though I always felt compelled to fill the whole page and quite frankly I was becoming a bit bored with […]

Cracker Box Canvas + Solid Gold

Okay, not really solid gold…but gold leaf. Yep, I gold-leafed a cracker box 🙂 This originally started out as another “secrets type” of project made out of a cracker box (you can visit here for info on that project.) But it quickly became evident that this was going to go in another direction. I completely […]

Cracker Box Canvas + Secret Messages

This is the story of how a lowly cracker box became a canvas and eventually a collage… This is a really easy technique and works very well if you are planning on doing some collaging or if you are painting and don’t mind a little texture under your design. First, you cover a box (I […]

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Pop-Up Journal Page

This Life Book exercise was all about letting go, not feeling the need for things to be perfect. Getting a little wild. I loved this project, but of course I did not follow the example precisely. Lately I go where ever a piece leads. My theme (as it emerged) was more wild abandon, being free, […]

Heart Sick?

I debated for awhile if I should post this. I really did not intend originally for it to be a “dark” page, and certainly I did not intend for it to look like a crime scene. It started off very sweet and then when I got a hold of the red acrylic ink things started […]

Small Journal: Live Creatively

I have been attacking this small journal lately to the exclusion of all other artistic pursuits, including LifeBook which I actually paid for 🙂 Oh well, lately I’m all about just doing the thing that  makes me the happiest, and that has been just collaging away in the small journal. This is a favorite quote, […]

Small Journal: High Wire. Caution.

Not much to say about this one. Just working out some feelings 🙂 To make this I played with maps, pages from a technical manual, washi tape, acrylic, sharpie, water colors, tin foil, tissue paper, pencil, ink. The stamped text in the foreground reads: high wire. caution. The hand written text in the background reads: […]

Silly Love Songs…

Because, you know, Valentine’s Day is coming up 🙂  I personally never tire of silly love songs. To make this I used: art papers, washi tape, tissue paper, aluminum foil, acrylics, acrylic ink, pencil, sharpie, and stamps. The quote of course, is not my own, but belongs to Paul McCartney & Wings “Silly Love Songs.”
